Splashpendous Swimming

Over the last two weeks our school has been taking swimming lessons at Graham Condon. Our first lesson on the 3rd of September we road on a red Bus when we got there we got changed and went out to the pool.We had to do a test to see what group you would be in we had to do one length of free style,one length of back stock and one length of breast stroke.I ended up in the top group and for the next 6 days we did lots of lengths of different strokes.On the the 3rd to last day we used life jackets on the 2nd to last day we used life jackets and the boat we also learned about the things you need on a boat and finally on the last day we got to wear our PJ's and pretended that were in a river with our clothes on.

In reading this week we read an article from Kiwi kids News about Fortnite. We had to identify key words from the text and combine these keywords with prior knowledge to help with understanding of the text. This is my reading response :

Super Speech

Over the last two weeks we have been working on writing  speeches.I wrote my speech on why we need to ban plastic bags and other single use plastic.

Everlasting Eruption

This term we have been focusing on the Maori leagand the, Battle Of The Mountains. So in reading we tried to focus on this story.Our follow up was to make repose or project on this.My friend Harriet and I worked on making an erupting volcano that was inspired by the mighty mountain Tongariro,this took us about 3 days to finsh. The first day we worked on making  the volcano shape,The second day we painted it and the last day we made it erupted.

To make it erupted we use about 1 cup of viniger and used 5 tablespoons of baking soda.

Perfect Punctuation

Meerkats

This is a story I have been writing in my writing session where we have been focusing on punctuation.

One day I woke up and poked my head out of my burrow along with

some of my siblings.Then we saw it the first ever pinokio fruit this marks the first day of spring. We all got up and tried to get the fruit.Then out of know where a big old mean volcher came and stole our fruit.

“Should we chase it,” I said.

“Yesss,” shouted my sister’s.

“We need a plan,” My big sister Addi said.

“What are we going to do,”said my little sister  Lily.

“I have a plan,” said Addi.

“What is it,” I said. 

Addi said, “All we have to do is run as fast as we can then I’ll jump and try to grip onto his claws then you to have to jump onto me”.

“Lets go,” I said.

We ran as fast as we could we finally caught up to the voucher, then Addi jumped up and caught the vouchers feet then I grabbed Addi feet and lily grabbed my feet.Now all we had to do is distracted the voucher to make it fly into the cliff so he will drop it.Them we will put it in the tree. The voucher was flying all over the place it finally flow into the tree.

“This is our chance,”Addi shouted.

“OK,”Lily and I said together.

“Lets run,” said Addi.

Addi grabbed pinokio fruit and we ran back to the tree. When we got back to the tree we were lucky because nobody else was a wake. Addi threw it up but it fell and splattered everywhere so that was the last of that.

I would really like to know how I could make my punctuation in this story better ?

Cool Culture P.B.L

This term our learning focus for P.B.L Project Based Learning is Culture Stories .

We have working in groups of four in my group I had Ella, Harriet and Sienna

We have been focusing on 3 main questions these are - 

Where are we from ? 

What is Culture ?

What are our Culture traditions ?

 Where are we from ? 

Harriet: Maltese, English and IrishElla: Scottish, English/WhalesNeila: German and irish Sienna: English, Irish and Maori

What is Culture ?

Culture is what you call your background. If your family is from Australia then you have an Australian background. You culture can have special things that they celebrate. Your culture might play a special sport or eat a special food. Culture is special to us because it helps us to identify each other.  

Our culture traditions

We all celebrate our catholic belief by going to church.

Here are some traditions on from our different cultures.

Germany - This is something they do to celebrate new years day it is Mardi Gras 

I do not celebrate this but this is one of the most popular celebration in  Germany

Commonwealth games report

History -

Netball was first played in england in 1895,It soon became a worldwide game

Netball became a sport in the commonwealth games in 1998.

There was no standard rules at that time so they played nine aside and five aside version games.

The first commonwealth games that netball was won by  Australia.

If you wanted to play netball in the 1895’s you had to be 21 years or older to play

But since then the the rules have changed and you have to be 16 or older.

They had the same positions as they have now which are

Wing Defence, Wing Attack, Goal Shoot, Goal Defence, Center,  Goalkeeper ,

and some subs so this means about 8 people in a team.

In the commonwealth game New Zealand netball has won 2 gold 3 silver and 0 bronze.

 So we have come to the end of our history time but we still have thinks for you.  

What they do in the game -  

WA - makes sure the other them can’t get the ball and look for shooting opertenites

WD - She defends the wa so they can’t get the ball and look for interceptions

GS - Works nere the semi circle or in the semi circle with the GA to shoot

GA - Works with the GS to shoot and get hops

GD - Defends the GA so their interceptions can’t get the ball to shoot

GK - makes sure the other team can’t shoot and get goals  

C -  dose everything apart from shooting
